Strawberry fields not forever
Farmers cash in, sell out and retire
Maybe the fields will move east
Or maybe south to endure
Maybe fruits and vegetables will be on the endangered list
Maybe they will begin farming in the middle of the freeway?
I wanted to capture the essence of life on the road in Southern California and the influence of change on the natural surroundings. The monumental freeway overpasses, the speeding motorcycles and the traffic hustling through the city morning, noon and night. Four of the nine paintings in the series feature a unique map texture that has been glued on the canvas offering a surprise upon closer observation.
As the saying goes “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I try to find the visual interest and attraction in most everything I see - be it from the natural world or manmade.
