Six women trying to grasp a fragment of truth and beauty in a convoluted, multi-layered reality.
"The Scene" is the final part of "NEW POLITICS for beginners"; A six-piece work presenting personal yet political scenarios: a prayer, a game, ritual, humiliation, hope. The quest ends surrendering to chaos: a colorful complex world, where different voices are simultaneously heard, interacting in a natural, stirring harmony.
About "The Scene"
Six dancers invite seven women from the crowd to join them on stage. The dancers interview the women, breathe rhythmically and then dance in various styles. The women spill water over the dancers who then meet intimately with the floor. Personal details from the women's lives are exposed, becoming a part of the performance. The fine line between the stage and the crowd blurs into a living texture where essence is found in the here-and-now.
The bureaucratic attempt to create an order fails, and the performance ends in a unified movement of the dancers and the women from the crowd. Together they create a new diverse, robust, messy order, in place of the old one.
